I’ve been pondering my next plans for moving forward in the new standard to come, and a few deck ideas have come to mind.  My first list I will probably be trying to play will be a new version of B/W control, using a more creature heavy build for some of the new amazing creatures coming out in Kaladesh.  The other list is one that will probably take me more time to acquire the pieces for as I am currently missing a few pieces form the current standard for the deck, and that deck is a take on G/B Delirium.  The third List I have been working on is a more aggressive  R/W vehicles deck list that I think is worth at least trying.

I have only recently picked up the cards I was missing for B/W Control and do like the deck, prior to this I was still hanging onto G/W Tokens which still has powerful cards in it, but I think B/W control is better positioned at the moment and will probably still be after rotation.  With that here is my current list which will require some tweaks I am sure.

W/B Control

34 Main Deck

4 Filigree Familiar

4 Cataclysmic Gearhulk

2 Noxious Gearhulk

2 Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet

4 Liliana, The Last Hope

1 Ob Nixilis, Reignited

1 Sorin, Grim Nemesis

4 Grasp of Darkness

3 Transgress the Mind

2 Ruinous Path

2 Murder

2 Live Fast

2 Anguished Unmaking

1 Fumigate

26 Lands

1 Blighted Fen

3 Forsaken Sanctuary

4 Concealed Courtyard

4 Shambling Vent

8 Swamp

6 Plains

This list is very different then the current B/W control lists as the current lists only run Linvala, The Preserver in the Main.  Here I want to capatalize on the power and synergy of Cataclysmic Gearhulk beside Kalitas and Filigree Familiar, while using Liliana, The Last Hope as an additional win condition or utility card for recurring the above mentioned power house creatures.  Noxious Gearhulk is another addition I feel is pretty strong as the ability to kill any creature gain life and have a fairly serious threat all rolled into one seems awesome especially when running the full 4 copies of Liliana for recursion.  Fumigate and Filigree Familiar both seem like very strong control cards with the ability to gain life and both give good card advantage.  The only card I am really missing here is Read the Bones, we do get Live Fast but it feels very lack luster here in this list as compared to Read the Bones.  I almost wanted to splash for red to be able to hit a third color for Painful Truths, which I may do I just haven’t finished playing with the idea yet as we do also have the W/R Fast Land.

G/B Delirium is another deck that is currently well positioned, and I feel like it gets a few pretty cool cards out of Kaladesh.

GB Delirium

15 Creatures

4 Sylvan Advocate

4 Grim flayer

2 Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet

2 Iskanah, Grafwidow

2 Noxious Gearhulk

1 Emrakul, The Promised End

20 Other Spells

3 Liliana, The last Hope

2 Nissa, Vital Force

4 Oath of Nissa

2 Traverse the Uvenwald

2 Collective Brutality

2 Transgress the Mind

3 Grasp of Darkness

2 Murder

25 Lands

4 Evolving wilds

4 Blooming Marsh

4 Hissing Quagmire

7 Swamp

6 Forest

The only new cards I have decided to include in this list are Nissa, Vital Force and Noxious Gearhulk, both of which feel like they add a lot of power to the deck.  Nissa give the deck additional Liliana minus triggers effectively if needed, is a powerhouse threat on an empty board and can be a grindy match up game changer with her ultimate.  I think this version of Nissa is going to be really good this might not be the best place for her but we will see.  Noxious Gearhulk here serves as another kill spell that has some pretty awesome upsides, plus Traverse the Uvenwald can tutor for the hulk in those situatios you just need a kill spell or life gain.

My W/R aggro vehicles list is mainly all new cards except for a few burn spells.

RW Coming THROUGH!

40 Main Deck

4 Sky skiff

4 Smugglers copter

2 Skysovereign, Consul Flagship

4 Inventors apprentice

4 Toolcraft Exemplar

4 Speedway Fanatic

3 Depala, Pilot Exemplar

4 Glint Sleeve Artisan

3 Collective defiance

4 Incendiary Flow

4 Fairgrounds Warden

20 Lands

4 Inspiring Vantage

2 Inventor’s Fair

8 Mountain

6 Plains

A deck running Kird Ape like creatures always seems interesting, and my reference to Kird Ape is with Inventors Apprentice which is Kird Ape for Artifacts, and Toolcraft Exemplar which triggers before combat making him a 3/2 for 1 converted mana cost as long as you have an artifact not to mention he also gets Firststrike with Metalcraft ( controls 3 or more Artifacts).  Speedway fanatic seems like another great way to get in there with Vehicles, my thought for this guy assuming you didn’t hit a one drop into artifact for turn two would be to drop this turn two, and turn three drop a Sky Skiff or Smugglers Copter crew it with the Fanatic and get in there.  Depala is an aggressively costed creature that pumps your dwarves and Vehicles as well as has the ability to draw gas ff of being tapped and paying X.  Te reason I have included Glint Sleeve Artisan is in the event you get to the point where you have vehicles on the battlefield and no creatures you can drop this guy and activate 2 of the smaller vehicles or even activate Skysovereign.  I have also added Fairgrounds Warden which in this deck works exactly like a fiend hunter remove a blocker to allow creatures to get through.   My group of vehicles in the list are the most aggressive ones being printed, a 2/3 flyer for 2 with crew 1 and a 3/3 flier crew 1 that can loot seems pretty good to me.  And to top off the deck and curve is SkySovereign which I feel just has an awesome affect especially with a Speedway Fanatic onboard being able to kill 2 creatures or one large one and get in for some pretty serious damage seems spot on for a deck like this.

I’m sure there is plenty more brewing that can be done with what looks to be a fun and very interesting set, and I can’t wait to see what decks form from the new Meta.  My lists here will definitely evolved over the course of the next few weeks and I m sure I will come up with other brews as I still haven’t done much brewing with Chandra yet and am positive she will be very powerful and one of the top cards of the next standard season.  Also stay tuned for my Kaladesh Prerelease primer and my thoughts on the set from a limited point of view, and my Current Modern lists of various decks I could decide to play.
