(Review) DC Designer Series Figure: Greg Capullo ‘Talon’

“Beware The Court of Owls, that watches all the time, ruling Gotham from a shadow perch, behind granite and lime. They watch you at your hearth, they watch you in your bed, speak not a whispered word of them or they’ll send The Talon for your head.”

Greg Capullo took the comic world by storm when he took over the art for Batman for The New 52. People have loved and praised his art and he is considered one of the best artists Batman has ever had.

DC has begun making what they are calling “DC Designer Series” figures, with this set all being modelled after Greg Capullo’s art.

Today we got our Talon figure from our local comic shop and it is gorgeous. It comes in at just under 7″.

The throwing knives on his chest and the darts on his wrist are not movable, but the pieces are so tiny I guarantee they would fall out or get lost. However, the two swords on his back and the dagger on his waist come out of their sheaths and can click into the Talon’s hands.

The backside of the Talon is rather minimalist, with just the sheaths of his swords and his waistpouches sneaking around from his sides.

His executioner’s hood looks sweet and goggles come with high quality paint and detailing.

The black paint is matte and stealthy, but the metal highlights, armor have a metallic paint that helps them stand out.

Even his ankles bend! This is not the kind of action figure you had when you were a kid. this is the kind of action figure that you want to leave in the box forever, but are completely incapable of doing.

It also comes with a little court of owls mask! Maybe you can put it on your batman…

From what we can tell he has 18 points of articulation, which sound impressive, but in actual practice, it is awesome. The best thing about this series of figures is the endless opportunities for poses and recreating scenes with them.

The talon is only one figure in the series. Right now, there is Batman, The Riddler, Nightwing, and Talon. You can buy these figures at your local comic shop.

These are sweet figures. We were unbelievably impressed with the quality and detail. We highly recommend that you go pick one up. If you have been debating it, stop it and buy one.

Do you like these figures as much as we do? Have you bought one of your own? Which one do you want the most? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
