Genesis Hydra! By Alexander J. Curry

Hello all today I’d like to talk about the only spoiler for M15 That I have come across that has peaked my interest and here is a look at it:

At the moment Mono Green Devotion and Monsters are definitely a thing, I feel this belongs in Devotion build better than the Monsters lists, but it could do well in that deck as well.  The reason I like Genesis Hydra is the simple fact that Green is currently playable and we have access to Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx allowing us to make a very large Genesis Hydra.

I have personally been playing a G/u Devotion list and currently it does fairly well, but it can run out of gas sometimes, and I feel that Genesis Hydra could help create card advantage.  Not only does he search for another permanent but will more than likely set up an additional threat that will have to be dealt with.  I currently run 2 copies of Prophet of Kruphix, the Prophet has great synergy with a deck like Mono green devotion, allowing us to untap after casting the Prophet to flash in threats at the end of our opponents turn.  Mix the Prophets abilities to bring out the Genesis Hydra at the end of our opponents turn along with another threat and things are going to be looking pretty bad for our opponent in a very short order.

I am looking forward to play testing with the addition of Genesis Hydra in my list. Here is a sample of what my decklist might look like if I were to incorporate the new Genesis Hydra.

G/u Devotion

Creatures: 31

4 Genesis Hydra

3 Polukranos, World Eater

3 Prophet of Kruphix

4 Sylvan Caryatid
